Giving credit where credit is due...
During the aftermath of the September 11th terrorist attack, Jerry Falwell and Pat Robertson made some particularly reprehensible remarks concerning a number of Americans that they don't like, which had the effect of stating that these people, who were not in any way involved in the incident, were actually to blame for its having taken place. You've no doubt heard the details, so we won't go into that...but what amazed and astounded many was that Rush Limbaugh, who is normally not a great friend of the targeted groups, was one of the first to come to their defense, calling the remarks made by Falwell and Robertson "indefensible". He further went on to state that these two do NOT speak for anyone but themselves, and should NOT be considered to speak for all conservatives. This was, to say the least, a VERY refreshing thing to hear, and we feel that as a result, we need to acknowledge that much as some people may dislike him, Rush can be dead on target about some pretty important things now and then. In the process, he also provided us with a new bumper sticker slogan; "Robertson and Falwell don't speak for me!" (It's in our Current Events list; look for it there.)
And now, we take you back to our regularly-scheduled content...
